Getting Taught by GOD

A friend of mine posted a new blog entry on his blog.  I wanted to comment on it on my own blog.

Do We Seek Christ as Our Teacher?

That reminds me of what is at the beginning of one of my bibles.

I know a lot of us including my self, seek answers to our questions and do not always go to GOD for the answers. This has gotten me into some trouble as I have many many conflicting teachings in my head. I guess sorting those out is part of the reason for this site. It is very important to seek GOD for answers. I know it may be a challenge to know if you are hearing from GOD or not. GOD will never go against what he has said in his word and also do not forget that he is love. Also, we can not understand his word without him showing us what it means. I know some will say this creates a circle of sorts. Just do not give up seeking GOD and his truth.

I don’t want anyone to just accept what I say as I might be wrong please Go to GOD to see if I am right or wrong. I know I try to only post what I feel is right but I still could be wrong. As it is written, test every spirit and see if it is of GOD or not. I encourage you to go to GOD with everything.

  • Interesting introduction in this version of the Bible, Fred. The two verses at the bottom of it are quite clear. God is our teacher through His Holy Spirit, not men. Paul continues on this theme in 1 Cor. 3 as well…

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And you are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.” (1Cor 3:19-23, KJ2000)

    • It is interesting. I know we can be taught by others just as you read T austin sparks and Oswald chambers. I know this does concern me a bit though like can I even read those or read your blog or any blog for that matter. I assume yes as long as GOD can teach me through those. I still need to be careful though.

  • Fred,

I have known this problem with confusing teachings and else myself. As much as I might want to KNOW the whole truth about this and that at once, very often I have to wait until God lets me make experiences in my own life so that I really KNOW after having gone through it all what the truth really is. It seems God mainly teaches us through our own life and situations as Sparks once said. I read his devotionals or articles primarily as a confirmation of my own experiences, not so much as to get some teachings from him. It is always good to find someone who has gone through similar stuff and has more insight in a certain area than I have.

    • That is why I have now changed the focus of the site a bit. My posts as of late are about my experences and what I have been shown in them. Also the reason I like John bunyan so much is he went through a lot of the same things I have so his stuff helps me a lot in that way. I remember being so discouraged by some of the things I was going through that finding John bunyan was a breath of fresh air sort of speak. It looks like you feel the same way about sparks. I don’t look at his stuff as much. Also the other reason I like John bunyan is I could not find any one who had gone through what I was going throuhg before finding him. It is also rare to find others who have gone though the same type of thing actually.

      • Yes, it is very hard to find others who understand what we have been going through. I recall how often I would think I had found someone, but sooner or later I had to realize that I was wrong. 🙁 Like you, Fred, I only had one or two authors (not yet Sparks) who helped me and gave me some confirmation as to my experiences with God and Jesus.

I read your latest post about your change of focus and I liked it. Furthermore, I believe God nudged you to do so. 🕊🌫

        • Susanne,

Thank you for reading my latest blog. I have a lot to learn that is for sure. I sometimes even look at the footnotes in the Bible. Each bible seems to say different things in the footnotes. I guess I should maybe stop doing that. I think it is still ok to look at some of the people that went before us however we still need to be careful it seems. I don’t know what to do must days.
