Come to Jesus, my thaughts on John 6:37

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. KJB

This is a verse that has given many hope including my self. I know how badly we need Jesus to be saved. We are not able to save our selves as I have mentioned before. If we have had one sin there is nothing we can do in order to take that sin away. Only the blood of Jesus can take away sins, No one else and nothing else can take away your sins. So we need to come to him and have our sins washed away.  It is good that he has put this verse in his word as I know some are so beaten down by their own sins that they are terrified that GOD or Jesus will cast them away because of their sins. This verse however and thankfully would go against that. You do not have to be terrified or concerned about coming to Jesus according to this verse. This is a very good thing.

I am aware that there are those who come to Jesus for all the wrong reasons like coming to him to get food such as what happens not long before this verse is mentioned.

John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

If you read my history (which I think I may need to proof read and correct any errors ) you will see that at first I came to him for the wrong reasons until finally I came to him for the correct reasons and became saved by him. So make sure you come to him for the correct reasons which is to be forgiven and to have fellowship with Him and his father through the spirit. Also repentance is important, not mentioned in these verses but is mentioned in other places. Another wrong reason to come to him is to get fame and Fortune. Because he says he will not cast some one away who comes to him I believe that if some one comes to him for the wrong reason that person is not really coming to him at all or at least not in the way this verse is talking about specially if you read the verse before it.

John6:36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. KJB

Those who come to him are chosen by GOD and based on another parable by Jesus I think all are called however some can make up excuses and not listen to the calling. Here is the Parable I am talking about. I could also mention the verse where it is mentioned that GOD wants no one to parish.

Luke 14:15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. KJB

This shows that people can get a call by GOD and yet refuse to go to Jesus . I know farther on in that story is mentioned a man who was cast out. The only reason that has been showed to me as to why is he is not wearing the righteousness of Christ instead he is under his own righteousness. So another reason to come to him is to take on his righteousness as our righteousness is like filthy rags. Now in editing this I have maybe found another reason for that man being cast out. In revelation we have something about being washed by the blood of Jesus and having clean garments on. Again showing how much we need Jesus to be saved.

Any way be not afraid or concerned or even terrified about coming to him. If you come to him for the correct reasons he will not cast you out because you are actually called by him and are one who is obeying that calling. So obey and come to him. Come to him to be saved, to be forgiven (sins washed away), to have fellowship with GOD and his son Through the spirit and to take on his righteousness. These are all very good things and are just awesome that he is willing to give us all that. No burdens on our part just come to him. We do not have to try and save our selves. He can do the saving we just have to obey and trust him. He is well worth coming to because he loves us very much. This proves how much he loves us. Now if we come to him then we can live for him and that does not mean we can live any way we want but why would you want to live any way you want when he has been so kind to you? I am not claiming to be perfect my self, Although I am made clean by the blood of Jesus. I do make mistakes and do get things wrong and do stumble in to sin and if you know me I beat my self up over that because I know the things I have written here. Many times I have asked GOD for a new heart and interestingly enough he has answered that prayer. He has changed my heart many times and this is one reason I find sin disgusting and repulsive. Well that and the fact that I also know that every sin I have ever done or will do put Jesus on the cross. So when I sin I feel I am hurting him. So when someone tells me I should not be disgusted by sin they are in a way telling me to not love GOD or Jesus. I do love GOD very much. My desire is for you to love him as well. He is a good and awesome GOD well worth having a relationship with.

  • Fred,

This is a great and very honest blog post! :star:

I have not read more than this one, but I thought I should check it out as I had read your response on my blog today. We should not worry, nor should we be afraid! It is not about how many mistakes you and I make, it is all about Him and His righteousness; it is about His blood that cleanses us from all sin as you so rightly mentioned above.

Keep up the good work by listening to His leading, brother!

    Blessings,
    Susanne

  • Dear Fred,
I know that you have been struggling for a long time with sin and the loving grace of God for the sinner. Many people have tried to use guilt to get you into their harness of dead works. Christendom is full of such as these. I would like to quote from an article that you might want to read which we wrote,

“Jesus didn’t come to justify the godly, but the ungodly. He didn’t come to the hale and hearty but to the sick. ‘It is our sickness, not our health, that fits us for the physician, and casts us upon his skill,’ wrote Horatius Bonar. ‘In all false religion, the worshiper rests his hope of divine favor upon something in his own character, or life, or religious duties. The Pharisee did this when he came into the temple, ‘thanking God that he was not as other men.'” (Horatius Bonar, God’s Way Of Peace).

By the way, this book by Bonar would be worth your time to read as well.

I am glad to see you are blogging about your journey, my brother. Is there a way you can send me an email when you post a new article? You do not seem to have a “Follow” button as it is on WordPress.
Bless you as you seek His face and find that “Faith works through love” for “God is love.”
    Your brother IN Christ,
    Michael

    • Thank you and yes I do struggle a lot with stuff. I get my self in trouble as I say a lot. I need so much help and he is willing to help.

    • I added a newsletter thing. I don’t know if that will work or not so we will have to see. I will be testing it here in a bit.

  • Michael,

I had the same problem as I wanted to start following Fred’s blog. Eventually, I could do it from our WordPress Reader. There is a button that says “SEARCH” on the left side. As I entered “Seeking Bible Truth Fred Thoren” here, I saw his latest blog posts (though without a blogger like button) and I was asked whether I wanted to follow Fred’s blog.

    I hope that helps. 🤔
